Fibromyalgia
A Moxa treatment is particularly effective for conditions such as fibromyalgia. Since fibromyalgia is a neurological disorder in which the nerves are not properly regulated, we apply Moxa directly along the spine.
For this, we use the Dragonstail method.
A thin layer of Himalayan salt is placed on the spine, followed by sage, mint and thin slices of ginger. Small moxa cones are then placed on top of the herbs and ignited. The deep, penetrating heat of the moxa, combined with the therapeutic properties of the herbs, allows warmth to enter the nerve pathways.
This method helps reduce the pain and hypersensitivity associated with fibromyalgia.
Scar treatment
Moxa is also highly effective for treating scar tissue.
The heat significantly improves blood circulation in and around the scar, helping the tissue become softer, more flexible and better nourished.
Example:
A client who had undergone an abdominoplasty had a scar across the entire width of the lower abdomen and almost no sensation below it. After the moxa treatment, she felt the circulation return. The warmth spread through her lower abdomen and legs, and the sensation came back completely.
Smaller scars also respond very well to moxa: they become softer, more supple, and often far less noticeable.
Sore muscles and joints
Moxa is also highly effective for stiff muscles and joints.
During my massages, I often use a moxa pot to allow the deep therapeutic heat to penetrate the muscles. I also treat the joints with a moxa stick, where the unique warmth of the moxa herbs helps relax tight or painful areas.
The result?
Muscles and joints become flexible again, circulation improves, and discomfort often disappears like snow in the sun.
