Herb that fights dementia
It can flow freely throughout the body, including the brain.
Nootropic
Nootropic herbs alter neurochemistry to improve all aspects of brain function. A randomized placebo-controlled study of ginkgo biloba extract showed significant improvements in information processing speed and memory in various types of dementia.
Nervous
Ginkgo biloba acts as a nervine, stimulating, calming, and strengthening the nervous system. It produces a calming effect to help relax the brain and body and relieve anxiety and irritability.
If you have trouble focusing, or feel like your brain is overactive…always thinking about something that's bothering you…that's not normal! It's not okay to be stressed, irritated, or anxious!
The worst thing you can do is take their lab-made pills full of chemicals. Nature is the best supermarket and the only one I recommend. Organic, pesticide-free herbs are what actually help clear brain fog and find that peaceful feeling.
Memory Enhancer
Taking ginkgo biloba supplements can have a significant impact on neurotransmitter function. A study conducted on mice shows that ginkgo biloba leaf extracts improve cognitive function and increase neurogenesis, although findings in humans are still pending.
Neuroprotective
The neuroprotective properties of ginkgo biloba extract protect neurons from death from various causes. It reduces neuronal damage and improves cell tolerance to prevent the progression of neurodegenerative diseases.
Other Foods and Herbs That May Counter Dementia
While there is no proven treatment for dementia, many foods and herbs can slow the disease and prevent its progression.
Some foods that boost your brain power include:
Bacopa (Bacopa monnieri). Promotes cognitive memory and slows premature brain decline.
Gotu kola (Centella asiatica). It is similar to bacopa but is more preventative than curative. Ashwagandha or Indian ginseng (Withania somnifera). It is an adaptogen that improves brain function and learning ability.
Korean ginseng (Panax ginseng). It is a mental stimulant that can improve cognitive function in the elderly.
Lion's mane mushroom. It can improve mild cognitive impairment and enhance neurological health.
Reishi mushroom. Reishi shows therapeutic potential against Alzheimer's disease.
Saffron (Crocus sativus). It is a memory enhancer that can suppress the deposition of amyloid beta in the brain, which causes dementia.
Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis). It maintains balance in the brain and improves memory and learning.
Have you ever forgotten where you left your keys or the remote, or where you parked your car at the mall?
These are the first signs that your memory is deteriorating. When I first felt these signs, I took action and made sure my body was doing its best to combat cognitive decline.
Here's why... if you don't have the time, tools, or where to find the herbs mentioned above, you can buy the same remedies with the same ingredients here. It's made by one of America's top herbalists, and all the herbs in it are either wild-harvested or organically grown—something not many supplements can claim!
Ginkgo Biloba Tea
Support your brain health by drinking a cup of freshly brewed ginkgo biloba tea. You can use fresh ginkgo leaves. But if that's not available, you can still get a potent cup from dried herbs sold in online herbal stores.
Ingredients
1 tablespoon dried ginkgo biloba leaves, shredded
2 cups freshly boiled water
80 drops lemon balm tincture
Steps
Place the ginkgo leaves in a pot or tea infuser. Add freshly boiled water.
Let it steep for 10 minutes and serve warm.
Use: Drink a cup once or twice daily. It can take at least four weeks for the herb to take effect.
Ginkgo biloba tea can be taken long-term if you don't have any existing health conditions. You can also ask a qualified healthcare professional about dosage and duration of use.
